We went back inside the flower shop, where the young girl had at some point returned to her post.
âThanks for showing us the way earlier,â I said.
âNo problem! Thatâs my job! Hey, take a look around the shop!â
At the little girlâs recommendation, I did some browsing. Meanwhile, the girl looked after my monsters.
âYouâre all so cute!â
âChirp chirp!â
âAye-aye!â
âAha ha ha! That tickles!â
Good. Everyone seems to be having fun. The store sold cut flowers like hydrangeas and sunflowers. Among them was a flower I hadnât registered yet, a passionflower. But I couldnât add it to my encyclopedia even after I appraised it.
âHmm. Well, itâs not that expensive. Iâll buy it. Hey, could I buy one of these passionflowers?
âSure thing!â
As I expected, I was able to add the passionflower to my encyclopedia after taking out and appraising the one I had just purchased.
âAll right, next up is the legendary angler.â
âHey! You wanna meet my granny too, mister?â
âYour granny?â
âYeah. You wanna meet the legendary angler, right? Thatâs my granny!â
Wow, so the legendary angler was connected to this shop too? And she was a woman!
âWhere can I meet her?â
âYouâre nice, so Iâll let you in on a secret! I think granny is on the rocks at the northern outskirts of the village!â
âGot it, thanks. Iâll go check it out.â
âOkey-dokey!â
Would the event not have progressed if I hadnât bought a flower? I might not have bought it on purpose, but good job, me! I headed north, just like the girl told me to do. She said it was a rocky area, but this place was much more hazardous than I had imagined. The rocks were enormous, and we had to use Oltoâs earth magic to climb them. If the little girl hadnât told me to come here, I probably wouldnât have even thought of trying to search the area.
Once I got up onto the rocks, I saw a small-framed person wearing an ash-gray overcoat. They were sitting on the edge of a long, narrow rock, and had a fishing line cast out at sea. The ambience was perfect.
I walked up to them, deliberately making noise so I didnât cause any alarm, and the person casually looked over their shoulder.
âWho are you, and whyâre you all the way out here?â
Whoa, the legendary anglerâs a super intimidating old lady! Her eyes pierced right through me. Even though Iâd done nothing wrong, the moment she fixed her glare on me, I almost automatically wanted to offer a profuse apology.
âAh, um, Iâm a traveler. I heard the legendary angler would be here.â
âWhereâd you hear that?â
âFrom the old man from the South Fishing Village who likes collecting fish prints.â
âAh, so that guy sent you.â Once I brought up the fish print grandpa as an explanation, the old womanâs expression softened a little. âSuppose that means I should hear you out. So, what do you want to ask me?â
Was she friends with the old man? Anyway, I was glad she agreed to hear me out.
âIâd like to know how to catch the giant fish thatâs on the Prehistoric Island.
